The key objective of the new chain of sales outlets is a comprehensive promise
to customers: The Glamour of Take-off. The promise to customers includes long
opening hours and consistently high-quality basic products, such as fresh
coffee, specialty coffees and high-quality sweet and savoury pastries. In
addition to the assortment of products shared by all airports, each sales outlet
will feature local delicacies and gift items.
The sales outlets comprise various café and shop services, depending on the demand by customers at the airports. The sales outlets are open according to the departure times of flights, so in practice they are always open when there are passengers at the airport.
Entrepreneur-based sales outlets work on the franchising principle. A separate chain of shops will be opened at the largest airports. The shops will feature the same international brand products that are found in Helsinki-Vantaa Airport's Duty Free shops. The first shop was opened at Oulu Airport last week.
The sales outlet at Turku Airport will become a product development unit operated by Finavia, which will be responsible for developing and testing concepts before they are introduced at other airports. Turku Airport's sales outlet will open in February 2009.
In addition, the Kuusamo Airport and Vaasa Airport Café & Shops will be opened during 2009.
